Purpose: Jesus spoke regularly about love. In fact He says that the greatest commandment is to love God and the next is to love people. His final command to the disciples was to go and make disciples of all nations. So what does that mean for us? At some point we have to move from looking at those as just red letters in our Bible to action. Join studentLife in Chicago this Summer as we ask the question; what does it mean to love God and love people? We’ll be partnering with Jesus People USA (JPUSA) for the week as we enjoy the community they’ve built as well as take part in the many ministries they partner with in the community. Over the course of the week students will have the opportunity to serve in the kitchen at a shelter, sort through donations, as well as help to facilitate the operation of a food pantry. We’ll also make time for fun! We’ll spend some time downtown, we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy some great deep dish pizza, and we’ll spend an afternoon at Shedd Aquarium. Join us for an amazing week of community, fun, and service as we seek to love God and love people!
* Trip cost covers transportation, housing, food, and a trip to Shedd Aquarium. However, we will also be spending some time shopping downtown, at Shedd, and there may be opportunities for the students to buy snacks and/or get food at some local restaurants the students may want to bring some spending money for. They’ll also need some money for fast food stops on the way there and back.
Schedule: Meet at 7:00 AM on Sunday, July 8. We will return in the afternoon Sunday, July 15.
