When she and her husband became parents, they decided for her to stay at home in order to raise their family. When their children entered school, she began working for MPPS as a Kindergarten Aide and volunteered for numerous school activities and team events. Seventeen years ago she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and found her church home at Mt. Pleasant Community Church in 2002. For the last 11 years, she has served as the CEO of Life Choices of Central Michigan and felt privileged to witness the life changing and life-saving impact of Christ as He worked through the staff and volunteers who serve in this ministry. She has been married to Rick for 40 years and they have three children and four grandchildren.
Mary has enjoyed teaching in the kindergarten classroom, holding babies in the nursery, serving as a greeter, and working VBS at MPCC. As she looks forward to her retirement in 2018, she desires to continue to serve God and share His love with those she encounters. Mary shared that she is humbled and honored to have been nominated as an Elder Candidate for Mt. Pleasant Community Church.
Brad Eldred – My family, wife Cindy, daughter Emma and myself have attended Community Church for the past nine years and are now proud members of this loving body of believers.
I grew up in church every week and am thankful for parents who always made me attend, like it or not. I was much older when I realized that being a Christian wasn’t about attending church, although that is very important to me, it’s about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
I have always been a people person who enjoys deep and honest relationships with others. I enjoy small groups, helping with worship when called upon and for past three years, Cindy and I have enjoyed being inter generational leaders in the U-Life college ministry.
I look forward to sharing what God is teaching me with others. I have learned that life is a journey and that we grow in both the highs and lows of life. I have learned that mistakes do not define you, God does. I have learned that forgiveness, both given and received, is a true blessing. I look forward to whatever God has in store for me. I hope that my life can make an impact for Jesus in every relationship that comes my way. I pray that I am becoming the husband and father God has called me to be!
Doug LaBelle II – Doug moved back to Mt. Pleasant in December 2014 after a 16 year career playing Professional Golf. He and his wife Julie have two daughters Vanessa and Emma. Doug is a real estate agent with LaBelle Realty and specializes in commercial and residential real estate. He continues to learn about the Lord and strives to serve him each and everyday.
Deb McGilsky – My husband (Tim), daughter (Kate), and I moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1989 from DeKalb, Illinois, for me to accept a faculty position at CMU. Tim and I grew up in Racine, Wisconsin. I have been an accounting professor at CMU since 1989, teaching several different tax, financial accounting, and management consulting courses. In 1989, we visited several churches, ultimately attending First Baptist Church (FBC) after Kate decided she wanted to attend Mt. Pleasant Baptist Academy (MPBA), which she did from 5th – 12th grade. While at FBC, I served in several areas, including Women’s Ministry leader, Sunday School teacher for the Women’s class, nursery volunteer, Small Group/Bible study leader, College Ministry volunteer, Bible Study Leader for College Ministry, VBS volunteer, Treasurer for the MPBA Sports Boosters, and Board Member of the MPBA/Christian Academy. In 2004, we left FBC to become actively involved in a new church plant, Cornerstone Church (CC). While at CC, I served in several capacities, including writing the weekly church bulletin and Treasurer for 3 years. I also served as nursery volunteer, Small Group/Bible Study leader, and co-teacher with Tim for the ‘Tweens Sunday School class (4th- 6th graders). In 2015, Tim and I began attending Community Church, becoming members in 2017. We are members of the Fox (Dave and Connie) Small Group. I look forward to serving at Community Church wherever God places me.
Sam Prout – Sam and his wife Shannon have been attending MPCC since 2010 and have been members since spring 2017. He has served on the worship team, kid life, greeters and parking lot crew and attended the Alpha course. Jill L. Rankin – I was born August 18, 1964 and married at 18 to my husband Mike Rankin; we just celebrated our 35th Anniversary. We have 2 children, Lance and Greg. We are blessed with 12 grandchildren, 3 attend church with us regularly. I have been attending Mt. Pleasant Community Church for about 8 years with my husband Michael and our grandchildren. I am a woman and warrior for God and I just love being able to say that. I have become more bold for Jesus as I enter into this 8th year of spiritual growth. I have had some pretty tall hurdles to jump and with God’s never ending support and guidance I break through them instead of them breaking me. I have dealt with many heartaches and feel I am stronger for them or in spite of them; when the enemy attacks he gets beaten down, not me, because the Lord MY God is for ME, so who shall stand against! I have been involved in many of the programs and volunteer opportunities such as: checking the children in on kiosk and Alpha Cooking Team. I have taken and helped with the Alpha course a few times and this will be my 4th year with the Homeless Shelter Greeter/Guest Care. I was honored to start small groups from Alpha. I started Kids Hope as a Mentor but as my job hours lengthened I took advantage of being on the Kids Hope party food team. I have been in the sewing group, prayer groups, taken classes with Pastor Wally on the book of John and Freedom with Pastor Alan. I volunteer as an usher and attendance counter on Sunday, Operation Christmas Child Year Round Volunteer and now Team Leader. I was voted in as President with the Gideon’s Auxiliary this past May. I am an aggregate scale operator, weighing in semis that carry sand/gravel product. I have been in my current position 2 1/2 years now and love it. I minister to the truck drivers when an opportunity arises. I feel God leading me to be where I need to be, when I need to be there and for how long he needs me to be there. I have served people through personal care, customer care to helping them find a seat at church. Now I find myself getting the call for missions; I am not sure if I could physically go across the pond and serve but I can serve my missions calling by helping people out in our wonderful community. In closing I thank you for this nomination, I am eager to see the path God has for me next.

I also help my wife with Operation Christmas Child, loading boxes on the trailers. I am a member of the Gideons and enjoy the friendships I have made and opportunity to put the word of God in people’s hands through this ministry. I co-lead our small group with my wife and have enjoyed classes given here at MPCC. My joys are my family, my work, relaxing with some sports and reading. I feel over the last 7 1/2 years I have grown in the Lord and want to help others who could use my skill sets.

I have been a believer my entire life and was blessed to be raised in a Christian home. The foundation and experiences I grew up with laid the groundwork for an ever evolving, growing walk with the Lord. Worshiping at MPCC has allowed me to develop a stronger and deeper faith enriched by the Word of God and the support of wonderful, loving mentors. I presently serve on the Hospitality team as a Greeter, Kidlife as a nursery volunteer, the Widow Ministry as a volunteer, Kid’s Hope as a mentor, and a women’s community group as a co-leader.
